Students from the West Philadelphia Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) recently donated a generous gift of 30 books to the Council for Professional Recognition that will be distributed to children in local hospitals. Each book also included a personal card written by the students wishing the recipient a speedy recovery.

This activity addressed the advocacy under CDA Course Competency Six, “Making a Commitment to Professionalism,” in which students were provided with the opportunity to work as a group to help combine literacy, social and emotional skills, as well as professional skills to benefit children outside of the community. Special thanks to the leadership of Sherilynn Kimble, CDA Course Instructor and AFEL Alliance Manager, for coordinating the activity and collecting the books for donation.
