Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.
I am 31 years old and have lived in Philadelphia my entire life and graduated from Frankford High School. Currently, I live with my family in the Frankford section of the city. I was born with water on the brain and have many educational disabilities. I enjoy volunteering for agencies to help others in need, such as the Rock Ministry in Kensington and YSI. At the Rock Ministry in Kensington, I help feed the homeless. Giving back is my passion. I also enjoy attending church weekly.
Q: How long have you been volunteering at YSI?
I have volunteered at the annual Tows 4 Tots for the past 6 or 7 years. I really enjoy helping kids and others in need, especially around the holiday season.
Q: Why did you choose YSI when you were looking for a place to volunteer?
A friend of mine told me about YSI and I decided to start volunteering at the annual Tows 4 Tots event. YSI is a good organization that helps many children & teens from many areas and backgrounds across the city of Philadelphia.
Q: Why do you think it is important to volunteer?
I enjoy helping others in need. When I was younger, my grandmother said, “You have to help the poor and the needy people.” Also, it is important for me to give back to all people, children and adults to pay it forward to those who have helped me in my life.
