In the Volunteer Spotlight we recognize a Youth Service, Inc. volunteer making an impact in the communities we serve. Faye Fulton volunteers at Youth Emergency Service.

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

Faye: I am a Christian, who loves the Lord and love being used by Him. I am born and raised in Philadelphia, PA; educated in the public-school system and was blessed to receive a B.S. in Business Administration from Penn State University and an AAS Degree in Chemical Technology from Community College of Philadelphia. I have worked in several industries during my career but found the most rewarding working in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry for 20 + years, where great work is being done to develop innovative therapies to cure cancer.

I love people and desire to see them prosper. I love spending time with family and friends, the theater, coloring, painting by numbers and laughing

Q: How long have you been volunteering at YSI?

Faye: I have been volunteering at YSI for a little over a month and it has been a blessing. The youth are wonderful!

Q: Why did you choose YSI when you were looking for a place to volunteer?

Faye: I believe I was led to YSI. I knew that I wanted to volunteer but I didn’t know where, so I prayed for direction. One Sunday morning, before preparing to go to worship service, I was listening to the radio and there was a gentleman from YSI talking about the program and the great work being done here. I felt the sincerity of his love for his work and the youth and instantly my spirit connected with what he was saying. I immediately got up and searched the website to determine how I could be used at YSI and the rest is history.

Q: Why do you think it is important to volunteer?

Faye: The importance is twofold. You help others and in turn you end up being helped. You think you are volunteering for the sole purpose of helping others but as you are blessing those you serve your heart softens and grows and you helped (go figure).
