Youth Service, Inc. and The Advocacy Institute are teaming up this year for the Rise & Dream Philly Teen Conference!

YSI invites Philadelphia teens to “Find Themselves” and work together to create solutions to combat peer pressure  

WHAT: Youth Service, Inc. (YSI), nonprofit organization that provides support services to to at-risk Philadelphia teens, is hosting its first-ever Rise & Dream Philly Teen Conference, a collaboration that joins YSI’s 17th annual “I Can Dream” Teen Conference and AI’s 4th annual #RISE Youth Summit. Local teenagers are invited to the conference to “find themselves” and work together to combat any problems they may face.

The conference’s theme, “Find Yourself, Be Yourself,” is a call to action for teens all over Philadelphia to feel comfortable with themselves and to rise above the adverse conditions that surround them while working towards their goals and dreams. The conference’s aim is to help local teenagers build a sense of identity and help them be better prepared to find solutions to the daily issues they encounter. Through a panel of experts and workshops, the participants will leave inspired, educated and supported in their daily lives. As part of the conference’s activities, attendees will be broken into workshop groups based on age and the gender they identify with and work together to create and present skits related to the conference’s theme.

Below, is the list of speakers and the performers who will headline the event:

  • Wallo267 – A social media powerhouse who who turned his life around after spending 20 years in prison, will keynote the conference. Having grown up in similar living conditions as many of the teens who will attend the conference, Wallo267 will share how he became successful after dealing with setbacks in his life.
  • Project Positive – A Philadelphia based dance organization that uses hip hop to inspire the youth in their community, will open the conference’s program.
  • ÅrÄmØ aka ArAmo– ÅrÄmØ is not your average artist. She uses her passion for music to fulfill her purpose of being the “Voice of the Young People” and is soulful singer, incredible lyricist, and song writer.

All attendees will receive a complimentary light breakfast and lunch, a #RISEandDREAM t-shirt, prizes, including backpacks and wireless speakers, and free admission to the Underground party following the conference.

The Rise & Dream Philly Teen Conference is free and easily accessible by public transportation.

WHO: YSI is a nonprofit organization that provides immediate shelter and support services to Philadelphia’s children, youth and families. YSI offers unique programs throughout the city, including Philadelphia’s only Crisis Nursery program and the longest standing shelter in the area for runaway and homeless teens. Through shelter, counseling, and in-home support services, YSI reaches more than 5,000 clients annually, the majority of whom live below the poverty level. Many of YSI’s programs support at-risk teens and include truancy prevention, counseling, in-home services, and other one-on-one support..
