For the second year in a row, YSI is partnering with Photocharity and OPPORTUNITIES-PA as part of a national movement to combat the urgent problem of youth homelessness. A longtime participant in this fight in the Philadelphia area, YSI has joined agencies serving homeless youth in San Diego, Washington, D.C., Buffalo, NY, and Rochester, NY for the 3rd Annual National Walk and Concert to Save Homeless Youth. Like last year, each organization will host an event in its home city aimed at raising funds to serve homeless youth in its community and gaining exposure for this nationwide issue.

This year YSI has decided to forgo a traditional charity walk and will instead host a relaxed walk from our YES teen shelter at 15th and Fairmount to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and back to YES (2 miles total). Upon returning to YES, a delicious soul food dinner will be sold for a donation of $20. We’ll also have a bake sale.

The walk portion of the event is optional and we encourage everyone to come for dinner, even if you aren’t able to walk with us. And yes, we will be showing the entire Eagles game on our brand-new flat screen TV! Count on door prizes and other surprises during the event.

Proceeds will benefit Youth Service, Inc. and OPPORTUNITIES-PA, nonprofit organizations with strong histories of serving homeless youth and young adults in the Philadelphia area. OPPORTUNITIES-PA has worked closely with our YES shelter for a number of years and we are excited to collaborate with them in hosting this event.

We invite you to come out to the event and support this important cause. Please share the event flyer with your friends, family, and network to involve more people in solving the problem of youth homelessness!
